Velvet is a manmade fabric that’s made from woven tufts of fine threads like silk and cotton which are cut short to create the distinctively soft-touch fabric that feels smooth when you run your hand over it.
This smooth finish is what gives velvet its high-end reputation, but there’s more to our velvet abayas and capes than just good looks.
As a thick and heavy fabric, velvet makes a solid option for cooler seasons, as it can provide the perfect warming layer to ensure you don’t feel the chill in the name of fashion.
It’s also an incredibly durable material that will last for years with the right care. So, even if you only buy one velvet abaya or cape, it can be a valuable fashion investment.
Abayas are a staple of any Muslimah’s wardrobe, and having one or two in opulent velvet will make sure you always have a show-stopping option on hand whatever the occasion and your personal style.
To help you find just the right piece for you, we’ve handpicked a stunning selection of velvet abayas.
If you’re looking for the perfect finishing touch for your modest outfit, look no further than our selection of sumptuous velvet capes.
Featuring an open front and slits either side for the arms, our floor-length velvet capes are best worn with long-sleeve garments for the utmost modesty. With colour options including teal, navy, black, olive brown, emerald green and maroon, you’re sure to find the perfect shade for you.
Elegantly draped over a closed abaya or inner slip dress, our velvet capes can be worn in countless ways with countless different garments underneath. You can even wear velvet capes with a pair of smart jeans or trousers and a top for a contemporary look.
However you choose to wear your velvet cape, the end result will be an outfit that screams luxury and sophistication.

If you want to give your outfit an elegant yet playful vibe, adding a little flower power to the mix with a floral hemline could be all that’s needed.
Providing a striking contrast against plain fabrics, a floral hem lends a graceful touch to any ensemble. For the perfect day outfit, small floral print hems can give your look a summery feel all year long, while a chic lace floral hem can be a stylish choice for refined evening wear.
To ensure floral design elements are the star of the show, keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple with single-colour pieces.
For Muslimahs striving for a luxury look, our selection of lace hem abayas are a wardrobe must-have.
With delicate, ornate detailing, lace has a timeless, classic elegance that’s impossible not to love. We stock a selection of lace hem designs, from thin lacy trims through to deeper hemlines that start from the knee, meaning you’re sure to find a design to suit your personal style.
Lace is sheer by design, so it’s important to pair this material with the right garments so you feel comfortable and confident all day long. With thin lace hems, this can be as simple as wearing a pair of thick tights. However, with deeper lace hems, we’d suggest wearing an inner slip dress in a contrasting shade underneath to highlight the intricate lace pattern while still keeping you suitably covered.
If lacy hems aren’t your style, we have a beautiful collection of chiffon hem designs that provide a fuss-free luxury alternative.
With a sheer finish, this slightly transparent, mesh-like fabric is lightweight and floaty, giving abayas an elegant layered look. Effortlessly swishing as you walk, chiffon hems can immediately elevate an ordinary abaya to a sophisticated option.
Chiffon hems speak for themselves thanks to their innate luxury look. For a truly show-stopping outfit, though, opt for designs that feature other embellishments such as hand-stitched beading or embroidery.
We know that every Muslimah has her own unique style and, if you’re looking to curate a modern look through your modest outfits, our pleated hems are just the thing.
From cute curly hems on our pleated fabric abayas to folded chiffon trims, pleated hems bring texture and layering into your modest wardrobe.
Complementary colour clashes usually refer to colours that ordinarily sit on opposite sides of the colour wheel. However, it can be as simple as pairing light and dark shades together.
Black and white: one of the simplest and safest clashes is a trusty monochrome black and white combination. This night-and-day colour palette is instantly eye-catching yet simplistic, making it an ideal way to dip your toe into the world of colour clashing and build your confidence. The other positive is that both of these tones complement pretty much any other colour - so, if you’re feeling brave, you can introduce another hue into the mix.
Styling tip: keep the contrasts simple by pairing a black abaya with a white hijab or going for a white inner slip dress finished with a black kimono or cape.
Pale and dark neutral shades: for a slightly softer colour contrast, put pale and dark neutral tones together, like cream and brown, white and grey, taupe and mink, or nude and mocha. Playing with light and dark shades in these neutral hues can be a brilliant way to celebrate subtle colour differences that work well together.
Styling tip: try to choose neutral shades that have the same underlying colour group - for instance, beige-creams go well with dark browns, white complements cool greys, and warm peach tones work with butterscotch.
Jewel tones: vibrant jewel tones like emerald green, blue, purple and red are ideal for contrasting with paler hues, allowing the dominant jewel colour to be the guiding star in your outfit. From pure white and ivory to mink, nude and blush pinks, there are so many ways you can combine bold and softer hues.
Styling tip: reserve this type of combination for special occasions. Use luxury embellished abayas in rich, deep hues with pale slip dresses, hijabs and accessories to create a sleek, striking outfit fit for any event.
For a more modern feel, amp up your colour clashing by pairing two bold tones that are continually vying for attention.
With light and dark contrasts, it’s all about creating balance - often allowing one colour to tone down the outfit. However, with these complementary colour clashes, it’s about making a bold statement where both colours come to the fore.
Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
Red and green: with the right shades, red and green create a powerful colour combination, delivering a striking finished look. We love dark forest greens with berry hues that create a rich bouquet of colour that’s impossible to ignore.
Styling tip: for an elegant evening look, go for a dark green abaya with delicate embellishments, and finish with mauve accessories - these could include a belt, shoes or handbag.
Blue and yellow: if you want a colour clash that screams elegance, blue and yellow are the way to go. These two colours beautifully clash like the sun and the sky, creating a high-end finished look that’s guaranteed to turn heads.
Styling tip: for a sophisticated and timeless look, we’d suggest putting together navy blue and gold - a colour combination that can be found in many of our occasion abayas. Alternatively, you can dress up a plain navy blue abaya with some chunky costume jewellery.
Yellow, red and orange: combining warm tones like red, yellow and orange in a two or three-colour palette is a sure-fire way to make your outfit stand out. These hues are perfect for all seasons but particularly during autumn and winter, as they naturally evoke a sense of warmth.
Styling tips: create a layered look with these clashing tones, choosing a different shade for each garment. For instance, go for a sunset gold inner dress, topped with a burgundy farasha and finished with a taupe hijab.
If you’re ready to embrace the beauty of colour clashing in your modest wardrobe, we have you covered. We stock a huge selection of abayas, jilbabs, kimonos, hijabs and more. Discover all of your options online now, including our latest modest fashion must-haves.

Let’s start with closed abayas. Taking the form of a loose, floaty, floor-length dress that can be worn on its own or with other accessories, a closed abaya provides an all-in-one modest outfit for all seasons and occasions.
Easy to slip on over other garments, closed abayas are a go-to choice when you need a quick and versatile option.
To help you find just the right option to suit your unique style, our online store is bursting with closed abaya options from plain fabrics to pretty patterns and embellished designs.
For the perfect everyday option, having a few plain closed abayas in neutral or monochrome tones, such as black, white, grey, brown, beige and cream, will give your modest wardrobe maximum versatility.
Alternatively, go for eye-catching glamour with one of our embellished closed abayas, which need very little in terms of additional styling. If you can’t resist adding a little extra, though, accessorising with a belt in the same fabric or a contrasting design will create a refined and sophisticated silhouette.
While most closed abayas speak for themselves, that’s not to say you can’t add a little texture and personality with some additional layers. From open abayas and kimonos to capes and jackets, closed abayas will complement a variety of top layers for an outfit that’s effortlessly stylish from head to toe.
If lace cuffs aren’t your thing, we have various other cuff embellishment options for you to choose from, including embroidered designs.
Featuring intricate and ornate detailing, many of our embroidered cuff sleeve abayas are hand-sewn, giving your outfit a high-end, bespoke feel.
From the colourful threads to delicate detailing, an abaya with embroidered cuff sleeves can effortlessly upgrade your outfit with little need for other accessories.
If you’re looking for an abaya with cuff sleeves that demand attention, styles embellished with beads and gems could be the way to go.
Instantly eye-catching and elegant, hand-stitched embellishments on the cuffs, including pearls, diamantes and beads, will beautifully catch the light as you glide through the room.
All you need to do is decide which design and colour best suits your style and occasion, and you’re all set.
Making a style statement doesn't have to mean glitzy fabrics and shiny embellishments. A simple design feature like colour or fabric contrasts can be equally as captivating and impactful.
This is where our contrast cuff sleeve abayas shine. From powerful florals that liven up a plain abaya to stark fabric colour contrasts on the inside of the cuff sleeves, we have options galore available in a spectrum of shades.
For Muslimahs who want their cuff sleeves to deliver enviable style and an element of practicality, we have the perfect solution: gathered cuff sleeve abayas.
We stock a huge choice of cuff sleeve designs with a tapered or gathered finish. Some designs are all about adding flair, like our sheer lace tie-up sleeves, while others focus on functionality and modesty with zipped or elasticated cuffs.
Many of our prayer sets feature zipped and elasticated cuff sleeves to ensure the utmost modesty and comfort all day long. Equally, added embellishments like frills and lace detailing can give outfits a striking feature that maximises modesty in the process.
Whichever cuff sleeve style you prefer, we’re sure you’ll find it right here. With so many gorgeous designs across our range of abayas, kimonos and prayer sets, we have a style to suit every Muslimah.

Remaining on the cutting edge of fashion doesn’t have to come at the cost of your modesty when you learn how to layer up in style.
The first step is to make sure your wardrobe has a variety of under layer options for you to choose from. From garment types to fabrics and colours, think of these innerwear pieces as the foundation for your modest outfits.
For layered open abayas and dresses, keep a selection of versatile inner slip dresses on standby. A selection of long-sleeved t-shirts and roll neck tops are also must-haves for layering up jeans, trousers and skirt combinations.
Worn under a top layer such as a button up top, dress or abaya, an inner slip dress or long-sleeve tee can introduce a new dimension to a simple outfit. They can also give your wardrobe added scope, pairing with unexpected pieces to spectacular effect.
As the seasons change, we tend to sideline certain items in our wardrobe. For instance, that gorgeous floaty maxi dress you’ve been swanning around in all summer inevitably makes way for warmer winter options.
What if we told you to stop looking at your wardrobe from a seasonal perspective? Instead, see these seasonal garments as just one layer of a layered look that can be worn all year round.
That pretty chiffon abaya can be layered up with a cosy inner slip and leggings underneath, and a chunky knit cardigan or jacket over it - transforming this piece into to an all-season favourite.
It’s important to feel comfortable and confident in your modest outfit, but that doesn’t have to mean sticking to garments of the same length.
When it comes to successful layering, the key is to introduce varying garment lengths that can give an outfit more definition and structure - preventing it from looking visually flat. This is also a reliable fashion fix for when you need to put an outfit together in a hurry.
For example, if you’re wearing a maxi abaya dress, pair it with a cropped jacket or cardigan that will break up the block of colour and create a refined silhouette.
Finally, don’t be afraid to tuck in tops to give your outfit a more complete look. Sometimes layered outfits can run the risk of looking flat - but with different lengths and a little tuck in here and there, you can instantly give your ensemble a more on-trend, edgy finish.
If you want your layered outfit to really pop, you need to embrace a mixture of textures and colours. From striking colour contrasts and patterns to textural nuances, these finer details all go towards taking your outfit from average to exceptional.
This technique works for day and night, helping you to adapt your outfit with just a few considered touches.
For daytime, keep things simple using accessories like tassel belts worn with a patterned abaya and paired with colourful leather shoes and a handbag to introduce subtle textural nuances.
With evening outfits, keep things chic and elegant with a layered open abaya and inner slip dress combination in contrasting colours. For added impact, go for layered textural differences, too, such as a chiffon abaya or velvet cape which will draw the eye in.
To complete your outfit, use a hijab style with layers or a draped finish that will give your outfit that effortlessly layered look.
Getting to grips with layers can be tricky but we hope that, with our modest layering tips and our diverse collection of modest fashion essentials, you’ll have everything you need to pull off a sleek and sophisticated look.

Next up on the luxury modest fashion runway are our embellished abaya jackets, which also come in a variety of sumptuous fabrics such as velvet, chiffon and cotton.
Effortlessly versatile and elegant, an embellished abaya jacket brings luxury and flexibility to any outfit.
For a classic look, slip it on over a plain abaya or inner slip dress as a sophisticated finishing layer. Alternatively, go for a contemporary look by pairing it with a top and trousers combination.
However you choose to wear your abaya jacket, you’ll find options galore when it comes to embellishments, helping you find just the right design to suit your style.
Last, let’s take a closer look at our floaty modest embellished capes, which are the ideal option if you’re looking for a statement-making piece.
Featuring slits for arms rather than traditional sleeves, embellished capes are worn loosely over other garments such as inner slip dresses and trousers.
Available in various fabrics, including velvet, nidha and chiffon, their long, flowing profile and stunning detailing gives them a graceful charm.
Some of the most popular cape embellishments include:
When it comes to your modest wardrobe, having a variety of different colour palettes to choose from can create endless styling opportunities - especially when you introduce some rich, earthy hues.
When we talk about earthy shades, these usually include tones that contain brown or have a close connection with natural elements like soil, stone, the sky or plants.
Here at AbayaButh, you’ll find a gorgeous selection of earthy colour options available, giving you the palette you need to curate a diverse and colourful wardrobe.
Here’s a sneak peak at some our most popular shades:
To make sure you find all of your modest wardrobe essentials in your favourite shades, we stock earth tones galore across our range.

Some of our favourite modest fashion essentials include:
Today, we’re giving the modern Muslimah inspiration galore when it comes to modest summer clothing that will keep you cool, comfortably covered and stylish all summer long.
To keep a cool head and enjoy day-long comfort while wearing your hijab during the summer months, you need to choose the right fabrics and hijab styling (such as a turban or draped look).
For fabrics, you need to keep things lightweight. So, for summer hijabs, opt for breathable materials like rayon viscose, georgette, cotton and luxurious chiffon and silk. These fabrics will guarantee your hijab feels comfortable to wear rather than stifling in the heat.
For colours, keep things pale with timeless whites, creams and nude hues which will reflect the sun’s rays. Lighter shades can be more transparent, though, especially in thinner fabrics, so test out their opacity beforehand and wear a hijab cap underneath if needed.
When it comes to modest outfits for summer, every Muslimah needs a selection of modest dresses in her wardrobe.
For comfy daytime wear, opt for light layering with a short-sleeved inner slip dress finished with an open or closed abaya. The loose-fitting silhouette of this modest summer clothing will give your outfit plenty of breathability, keeping you cool even on the hottest days. You can even add a tassel belt to give your outfit more structure without it feeling restrictive.
For versatile day and evening outfits, embrace the beauty and modesty of fashionable maxi dresses. Perfect for adding some summer glamour, these floor-length, long-sleeved modest dresses come in a variety of fabric options in playful prints and solid colours.
For the ultimate in modest summer fashion, no wardrobe is complete without a stylish jilbab or two. Providing full-length modesty in either a one length piece or a 2-piece set with separate khimar and skirt, jilbabs come in lightweight nidha which is designed to deliver day-long comfort for prayer and everyday wear.
When choosing modest summer dresses, always be mindful of the fit and fabric. A loose fit in floaty fabrics like cotton, rayon and nidha will keep you covered yet comfortable.
Depending on where you are in the world, not every summer day or evening is blisteringly hot - so you’ll want to include a few thin layers in case it gets a little chilly.
This is where a maxi kimono can make a beautiful addition to your modest ensemble.
Effortlessly elegant, stylish and light, long kimonos can serve as that ideal finishing touch for a gorgeous modest outfit that’s comfortable throughout the summer season.
To give plain outfits a little flair, vibrant hues and patterned designs could be the way to go. For maximum versatility, a black, white or neutral kimono with flowing sleeves offers options galore for putting together stylish modest summer outfits.
Whichever style you go for, floor-length kimonos can help you create an on-trend summer wardrobe even when the sun’s blazing outside.
If you’re keen to get a head start on building your modest wardrobe ready for summer, you’ll find modest summer clothing essentials galore in our collection. And don’t forget to visit our blog whenever you need more modest fashion style ideas.

For most Mulsimahs, it’s far more important to have a selection of modest clothing essentials that can be worn everyday. This doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be bland and boring, though. It’s all about choosing the right modest fashion basics that can be put to use to create a range of exciting and unique modest ensembles time and time again.
Here are 4 pieces every Muslimah should have in her wardrobe to give day-to-day outfits added versatility and style.
No modest fashion wardrobe is complete without a selection of classic abayas.
These modest fashion basics are must-haves for any Muslimah looking to give their wardrobe versatility and variety.
Ideally, you want a selection of open and closed abayas in a few timeless shades - but if you have to settle on just one colour, we’d suggest timeless, classic black as a good place to start.
Effortlessly elegant and endlessly versatile, black abayas are the ultimate modest fashion essential. With a few tweaks and accessories, you can dress your abaya up or down to suit all kinds of occasions.
For instance, a closed abaya with a stylish belt, chunky beads and some ballet pumps can make for the perfect smart-casual look for a lunch date with your friends. The same abaya matched with a pair of heels, a clutch bag and a statement brooch has you dressed to impress for an important meeting or a night out.
The key is to invest in high-quality essential abayas made from premium fabrics, giving you a trusty stylish abaya that can be worn all year round.
Comfort and modesty are at the heart of modest fashion, so making sure you have a choice of soft, lightweight inner slip dresses readily on hand is key.
Most commonly worn as an under slip dress with open and closed abayas, as well as kimonos, this modest fashion basic is surprisingly versatile.
Available in a wide range of colours and fabrics, and in short and long-sleeved options, we’d suggest investing in several shades, fabrics and sleeve lengths. This will make sure you have options galore for all seasons and occasions.
For example, paler shades in light, breathable crepe fabric can be the perfect layer to help you stay cool on warm summer days, even when worn under an abaya. Soft nidha and satin, on the other hand, can lend a more luxurious look when you need something a little smarter.
You can also use your inner slip dress as part of your style statement. We love the look of pale under slip dresses against a black or burgundy abaya to create a beautiful colour contrast. Alternatively, you might prefer the monochrome look with a black inner slip and black abaya for a sleek and sophisticated ensemble.
For modern Muslimahs, hijabs are already a wardrobe must-have, helping them to keep their head covered comfortably throughout the day. However, you only have to take a look at Instagram to see that they also give women the chance to express their own unique style.
For this reason, it makes sense to stock a variety of hijabs in your wardrobe, creating countless options for hijab styling.
Whether you want a classic hijab wrap or a trendy turban style, you may find you get better results with certain types of fabrics and hijab sizes. So, give your wardrobe a little update with a selection of hijabs materials. Jersey and georgette are perfect for everyday, while chiffon and nidha can add a little luxury for special occasions. Keep a few square and rectangular sizes, so you can choose the right shape and size for your chosen hijab style.
Finally, consider your colour options. Plain black and white hijabs are go-to options that are guaranteed to give you wardrobe added versatility, but there’s always room for brighter colours.
From abayas and dresses to hijabs, you’ll find countless ways to introduce luxury modest clothing to your wardrobe.
Whether you need something for a special occasion or you just want to feel like a million dollars, here’s a sneak peek at some of our best-loved luxury modest fashion essentials.
If you’re looking for something different to your everyday open or closed abayas, our luxury abayas collection has you covered, with a choice of open and closed abayas, floaty farashas and capes.

From the premium fabrics and elegant hues to delicate embroidery and embellishments, each of our luxury modest fashion abayas embodies quality and beauty.
For the ultimate in luxury modest wear, abayas in thick, opulent fabrics like velvet will instantly glam up your outfit - and they make a warm option for winter glamour. Alternatively, light, soft fabrics like nidha and pure cotton deliver a chic and timeless look that works for every season.
You can also use colour and eye-catching detailing to create the ultimate luxury modest fashion ensemble. Our colour spectrum boasts countless shade options, from classic black, white and grey to elegant nudes, silver, gold and striking jewel tones in blue, green and red.

Whatever features you choose for your abayas, you’ll find luxury modest clothing options galore at AbayaButh.
For some special occasions, only a dress will do. And at AbayaButh, you’ll find plenty of options to tempt you with our choice of stunning luxury evening gowns.
Designed to make you look and feel beautiful from head to toe, luxury modest wear doesn’t get more glamorous than this.
With elegant shades like dusky grey and shimmering silver, in floaty chiffon and polyester fabrics, the gathered waist and A-line layered design of these dresses provides a sophisticated silhouette - making you feel like the belle of the ball.
Featuring a variety of embellishments like feathered sleeve caps, hand-sewn beading and sparkly diamantes, these dresses are the star of the show. This means you’ll need very little added extras like accessories to complete the look - a simple monochrome hijab, a pair of heels and a clutch bag should do the trick.
At AbayaButh, we understand that not every occasion demands glitzy evening gowns and abayas. Sometimes, luxury modest wear is about the smaller details, like a hijab that helps to project an understated premium feel.
So, if you’re looking for a more subtle way to evoke a high-end look, our luxury chiffon hijabs collection could be just what you need.

]]>Hijab is the Arabic word meaning 'barrier' and, in modern times, has become synonymous with a headscarf. As a religion practised in most parts of the world, it should come as little surprise that the hijab is styled in multiple different ways depending on a variety of factors. These factors include the weather, the occasion, the clothes worn in the specific region and the facial structure of the woman herself.
As such, there really is no one way to wear this timeless and highly adaptable piece - allowing you to create different hijab styles and signature looks of your own. All you need is a collection of beautiful hijabs and a few essential methods of wearing them to get you started.
In this blog post, our modest fashion experts are sharing how to wear different hijab styles, making sure you not only know how to wear your hijab, but are also in the best position possible to create a personalised look of your own. So, let's dive right in.
When it comes to hijab fashion options, it can be easy to overlook the fabrics and type of material used and focus your choice purely on hijab pattern, colour and even price.
There’s nothing wrong with this but, when it comes to styling hijabs correctly, materials and texture matter, as they can make it easier to master hijab styles to achieve a perfect finish.
There are a number of different materials and textures available depending on your preferred hijab style, but here’s the lowdown on some of the most popular hijab fabrics to help you choose the right fabric for you based on your tastes:
When it comes to mastering hijab fashion, it's essential to know the different hijab styles to avoid. This will ensure you feel comfortable and confident in your headwear all day long.
First on our list of essential hijab styles list is the simple yet effective classic wrap.
Tried and tested, this instantly recognisable hijab style is a world-renowned favourite due to its easy styling and versatility.
Not only is it effortlessly on-trend, but, due to its simple construction, the classic hijab style can also be adapted to a broad range of outfit choices, regardless of the event - be it a brisk walk to the local supermarket or paired with a luxury abaya for a prom or graduation event.
A classic hijab wrap will suit most outfits. But, in order to ensure you're well prepared for any scenario, we advise filling your wardrobe with contemporary essential abayas that can be adapted to suit the events of the day ahead. From inner slip dresses to staple black open abayas, the classic hijab style is endlessly versatile whatever you pair it with.
Next up on our list of fabulous hijab styles you need to know about is the sleek and elegant professional wrap. This sophisticated go-to is sure to rejuvenate any plain outfit, adding a welcome touch of class to an uncomplicated ensemble.
The professional hijab style is perfectly suited for everyday wear, particularly in working environments. Be it a corporate meeting or a supermarket shift, this hijab style is guaranteed to make sure your headscarf stays looking neat and tidy.
A professional hijab style epitomises elegance and, as such, requires little detail to be added to the rest of your outfit. Similar to a slicked-back ponytail, this option is best styled with suits and shirts, or other garments that have definitive lines and a structure that exudes professionalism.
To evoke a real sense of luxury with your hijab fashion choices, the voluminous trendsetter hijab style is the ideal option.
With a layered look, this hijab style is perfect for cool, autumnal days, adding a welcome sense of texture and natural flair to your outfit and little need for additional accessories.
The modern trendsetter hijab style does what it says on the tin, allowing you to look and feel on-trend no matter what the catwalks are saying.
Despite being a popular hijab fashion, this style lends a timeless feel with a healthy dose of volume to your overall outfit.
As a beautiful option for those of you looking for something with a bit of extra coverage, this hijab fashion favourite encompasses the 'more the merrier' motto, allowing you to build up accessories for show-stealing style.
Feel free to place a brooch on one side of the hijab, not hesitating to couple it with a gorgeous luxury abaya with crystal embellishment on the hem or at the end of the flute sleeves. Worn with a set of strappy heels and a simple clutch bag to ensure no attention is detracted away from the hijab detail, this style exudes fashion.
An Instagram influencer favourite, the classic sleek hijab style creates an opulent I-just-threw-this-on look and is a powerful outfit choice when paired with the latest on-trend fashion items.
Requiring only one pin to stay in place, this effortless loose hijab style radiates glamour without being over the top - allowing your outfit to remain the real focal point.
A sleek hijab is perfectly suited to the trends straight from the runway.
This could be adopting the smart-casual look and pairing a bold coloured trouser suit with an ice white chunky trainer, a black turtleneck tee and a bold black sleek hijab. Or go for a chic look by coupling an elegant kimono with knee-high boots, a bold red lip and a sharp white headscarf.
Combining glamour with effortlessness, this easy-to-create hijab style will elevate your cool, bohemian look to a new level. Whatever the occasion, you can enjoy plenty of different ways to wear the sleek hijab style.
Last but by no means least is the turban wrap hijab style. Ideal for women blessed with a strong jawline, this hijab style can be adapted to your own personal tastes.
Whether you choose it for the practicality of not having anything around your face during a long day at work, or the hot weather outside, the turban wrap is a hijab fashion favourite everyone should try at least once!
A bold look in itself, the turban hijab requires little need for extra styling. But to add a touch of opulence to this already on-trend look, you can complete your outfit with a pair of statement earrings, keeping your clothing choices as simple or extravagant as you like.
Using an embellished velvet cape, a turban-style hijab will tie together your entire look. This gives you all the freedom you need to finish your outfit with your favourite pair of shoes.
When it comes to modest hijab styling, the world is your oyster. With so many different hijab styles out there, the possibilities are endless - meaning there’s no limit to your hijab fashion potential once you've mastered these staple styles.

To get us in the mood for the change over of seasons, we've put together 4 inspirational fashion ideas for your abaya that you can inject into your wardrobe with open arms - allowing you to enter the season without being fashionably late.
First things first, we're going to look at how you can use accessories to make your abayas fashionable all year round. If you're not doing a complete wardrobe refresh but want to add some little extras then you're in luck, as it's the season for extra special accessories.
Pairing a grey abaya with one of our jersey hijabs will not only look amazing - especially one with pearls that will complement a simple abaya design - but the thicker material will keep you lovely and warm compared to thinner hijabs which are more suited to summer.
Another option that could be a change up from the traditional hijab would be to pair your abaya with a velvet turban. Apart from the obvious reasons of warmth, the turbans look effortlessly beautiful and our range of colours are perfect for the season - from burnt oranges and emerald greens to coffees and charcoals, there will be a colour for you.
Sometimes, all you need to do to get ready for a new season is to make sure the colours you're picking out are on trend. As much as we love splashes of bright colours, we're welcoming a mix of Earthy colours into our autumn and winter abaya collections - using olive greens and rich auburn colours to achieve the perfect seasonal look.
A seasonal colour we're loving at the moment is khaki green. Our Lace and Pearl Detailed Midi Dress is a staple autumnal piece - match with cream colours and you have the perfect November outfit. Once we hit the colder months of December and January, our full-length Bronze Cuff Abaya will do the job of keeping you warm while its minimalist and delicate design will keep you fashionable.
With the colder months upon us, our focus is now on keeping warm and toasty, no matter what we're doing. Choosing specific materials for your winter wardrobe is essential to ensuring you have enough layers and beautiful winter abayas to set you up for the season ahead - making you look effortlessly fashionable while staying warm.
Our first suggestion would be to take a look at your slip dresses before picking out abayas. Long sleeve slip dresses are a great addition to any winter wardrobe and they can come in different colours to complement the abaya worn over the top. Subtle slips such as taupe, black, white and cream are easy to wear as they're a versatile colour to match with many other colours - so consider stocking up this season.
Next, consider the different materials for abayas - velvet being our season favourite. We absolutely love this Luxury Black Velvet Hooded Embellished Open Abaya that's gorgeously embellished for a wintery feel - the addition of the hood is going to be perfect for the extra cold days the season is bound to offer up.
Everyone loves having an outfit that they can dress up or down, the sort of outfit that you can wear to work during the day but go out for dinner come the evening. Some abayas naturally achieve both looks without being altered, however, some might benefit from a rose gold belt being used around the waist to help them transition into an evening look.
Our Leaf Detailed Open Abaya accomplishes the day to evening look perfectly and the leaf pattern couldn't be any more appropriate for autumn. Wear during the day using the pop-up buttons to have it closed and for the evening, open it, tying the matching belt around the waist and pair with some heels for a classic look while keeping your fashion on point.
If you need a little more fashion inspiration to help you tackle the change in weather, check out our range of beautiful abayas here.

]]>Couples must take a knife and slaughter a chick together. Why? The date of their wedding is divinely chosen by the appearance of the slaughtered chicken's liver. If the liver looks healthy, then they're set to marry, but if the liver has a poor appearance, they must continue completing the tradition until divine ordinance bids it a good one.
It might sound scary, but it's a playful tradition. Wedding guests work together to abduct the bride, sweeping her off to an unknown location. The guests will then demand a ransom from the groom so he can receive his bride and be married. Common ransoms involve having to perform embarrassing acts in front of the ceremony's guests or donating some bottles of wine and alcohol.
It's considered good luck for the newly married couple to sneak out of their ceremony before anyone notices. It's a good sign that they're off to begin their family. It's similarly good luck for whichever guest first catches their disappearance.
Lebanese wedding celebrations will sometimes be planned as a Zaffe: a rambunctious party full of music, belly dancing, shouting, flowers, party favours, and more. This takes place before the wedding ceremony itself, considered a pre-marriage parade from the bride and groom's home to the location where they're going to be married.
Before the groom can leave with his bride, he must remove his shoes and socks to undergo this tradition. Sometimes groomsmen will take them off for him and bind his ankles so he cannot move. His feet are then beaten with a dried fish or stick. This usually happens following a failure to correctly answer questions about his bride prior to the wedding.
Guests usually head to the home of the bride the night before the wedding. While here, they will break a piece of porcelain within the home. This tradition is thought to bring the couple good luck, as the couple is made to clean up the broken porcelain together, teaching them that married life will have its struggles and that it takes a cooperative effort to move on together.
In Indian culture, men and women born while Mars is situated in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of their astrological moon sign are thought to be cursed. This curse is believed to negatively affect their marriages. To avoid such complications, the accursed bride or groom is made to marry a statue of Vishnu or a banana tree prior to the marriage—known as a Kumbh Vivah.
Peruvian wedding cakes are covered with ribbons as added charms. One of these includes a unique wedding ring - in this case, intended to be a fake. The single women in attendance at the ceremony are asked to approach the cake and pull a single ribbon, termed as the "cake pull." Whichever single woman pulls out the fake wedding ring is foretold to be the next to marry, similar to the common bridal bouquet throw tradition.
Sometimes called the Meher, the Mahr is a known dowry that is given to the bride's family by the groom. Gifts usually include money, unique rings, and jewellery, or valuable property. It is a specific sign of sharing wealth between families, joining them as one under the contract of marriage.
While the Mahr will be performed in other countries with Muslim populations, the women's fashion and attire will vary, depending on the traditions and origin of the bride and groom's families.
Thought to ward evil spirits away from their marriage ceremony and future together, Armenians will partake in a tradition where lavash flatbread is balanced on the shoulder. First, the bride and groom will break a plate prior to their wedding reception; next, they're both given flatbread, layered with honey, to balance on their shoulders. Beyond warding off evils, it's known to bring happiness to their future together.
Have you, as a bride or groom, ever wanted to be slathered in muck? Scotland's "blackening" tradition does just this, where family and friends will come together to douse the soon-to-be couple in whatever disgusting items they can find, from rotted fish to mud to curdled milk. This joyous celebration is thought to ward off evil spirits. Its current reproductions come from a place of tradition and a play in humorous humility.
Common among the Tujia people, this custom starts 30 days prior to the wedding, where the bride will begin crying for an hour a day, every day. After ten days, her mother will join her. Ten days later, her grandmother will join the two of them. While seemingly sad, it's an expression of pure joy shared between generations.
During the wedding ceremony, the officiating minister will drape a lasso—made of rosary beads and flowers—over the shoulders of the bride and groom. Shaped as a figure-eight, the lasso is meant to resemble "infinity," showcasing an everlasting love between the couple.

On the wedding day, the bride will begin the ceremony by dressing for the traditional Shinto ceremony. Her attire will involve wearing white from head to toe, from makeup to a traditional hood, called a tsunokakushi. White is worn for the symbol of purity it exudes, while the hood is said to hide the "horns" she feels toward her soon-to-be mother in law.
]]>With mosques closed to the public and travel restrictions in place across the globe, many Muslims will be celebrating Ramadan at home instead of shoulder to shoulder with their fellow worshippers. However, in this post, we aim to provide you with 3 ideas on how to uphold the true values of Ramadan during lockdown, even if it may not be quite what you're used to. From virtual Iftars and at-home prayers to maintaining decorative touches in the home and the right attire, we'll give you all the ingredients you need for an at-home Ramadan in 2020.
1. Take Iftars online
Breaking Sawm at sundown each day during Ramadan, this is traditionally enjoyed as a hearty feast with family and friends to end fasting. But, during lockdown, even families who live just a few doors or streets away are forced to eat their Iftar at home.
All is not lost though. Video conferencing applications like Zoom and Google Hangouts have transitioned from purely business use to must-have modes of communication for everyday social gatherings amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The result is an effective way to enable families and friends to gather together 'virtually' from all around the world.
A video conference call may not have the same feel and flow of your usual Iftar get togethers, but it does still mean you can maintain that important sense of connection with loved ones even when you can't all physically be in the same room.
Whether you all decide to cook the same dishes each evening to replicate the feeling that you're united or you simply do a show and share before tucking in, an online Iftar can take any format that works for you. You can also do this with your morning suhoor, enhancing that sense of togetherness even when you're geographically apart.
Of course, you don't need to rely on online calls to do this, as a household, ensuring each suhoor and Iftar holds special significance in your day and is still made an event is just as good as a group conference call with extended family.
2. Embrace intimate nightly prayers
Another integral part of Ramadan that's had to adapt to lockdown life is taking part in the nightly Taraweeh prayer, as a way to cleanse the body of sins. Of course, with mosque doors closed due to the current coronavirus situation, Islamic communities have taken to a more intimate approach to group prayers, preparing and participating as a household at home rather than at the community mosque.
With the underlying essence of community, togetherness and a connection to Allah at the heart of Ramadan, an at-home Taraweeh is the best and safest way to ensure you uphold Ramadan prayer traditions, while still protecting yourself and those around you by staying at home. While you may miss the hustle and bustle of nightly prayers at your local mosque, this can be compensated by an enhanced feeling of closeness as a household.
Ensuring you get dressed up and take part in nightly prayers with the ones closest to you at home could be just what you need to ensure you still have that connection with others each and every day when fasting ends.
3. Dress for the occasion
Although everything about Ramadan 2020 feels far from normal, in order to maintain the essence of the celebration, it's essential to keep up your usual routine and practices where possible, which includes dressing for the occasion.
When it comes to purchasing Eid al-Fitr outfits and Ramadan decorations, many UK companies like AbayaButh are still offering online delivery, ensuring you can purchase your Eid al-Fitr outfits, gifts and other decorative essentials to keep up a sense of normality.
It's also these smaller details that can have the biggest impact on how you approach Ramadan under lockdown. Whether it's buying new Ramadan decorations for your home, treating yourself to a new dress for Eid al-Fitr festivities or buying Ramadan gifts online to be delivered to loved ones, doing all you can to keep with traditions and carry out your usual practices will ensure that the true essence of Ramadan is effectively upheld (even if it is behind closed doors).
The entire world is adapting to a 'new normal' in the face of the Covid-19 outbreak, and the Islamic community is no exception. Ramadan 2020 is definitely going to be challenging for Muslims who are used to celebrating together, but we hope the above ideas give you some inspiration on how you can create your own 'new normal' to ensure the fundamental human, social and spiritual connections are still at the centre of your celebrations.
Until next time,

]]>In this post, we've put together a list of perfect gifts you could give your friends and family to help make their Eid even more special.
Gifts for Eid al-Fitr
Traditionally, gifts were only given to children. These present were often given in the form of money rather than actual gifts, however over recent years, the practice of exchanging gifts has become much more popular.
Close friends and family give all sorts of gifts as a way to commemorate the month-long fast during the hours of daylight. This custom is practised all over the world and the popularity is on the increase, making the special holiday with friends and family a little more extraordinary.
Beautiful Jewellery
For the people you're close to like a spouse or parent, jewellery can be a perfect token for Eid al-Fitr - from watches to necklaces, bracelets to earrings.
For younger generations, you could give something modern and stylish whereas, for someone who's from an older generation, something more traditional may be better suited to them. Beautiful jewellery is commonly available featuring Arabic or holy symbols for an added touch.
Delicious Food Hamper
A popular gift to give for Eid is a food basket or hamper. Fill the basket with sweet treats or savoury snacks - this will surely be appreciated after Ramadan, as you can return to normal daylight eating habits. Put some thought into the hamper by adding delightful foods the recipients will love - chocolate, dates, cakes and nuts can all be added to a basket as traditional foods, but you could also include whatever you think the recipient would like.
A food hamper will also be great to put out at an Eid celebration when seeing family and friends. It will add to the selection of beautiful food available and is sure to encourage everyone to celebrate the festivities.
Special Clothing
On Eid, everyone dresses in their nicest clothes as part of the celebration, making clothing an ideal gift option. Choose something a little more distinctive than usual to make the recipient feel extra special and to really emphasise the celebratory nature of the event.
You could give clothing that the recipient can wear on the day of Eid or clothes you know they will love for general wear. Clothing is a good gift for both children and adults, and if you're not sure what style is right, you can always give a gift card to let the recipient choose something for themselves.
Engraved Silver Gift
For an Eid gift to treasure, an engraved silver gift will create an instant memento. Silver lasts for many years with some care and attention, so a nice personal engraving is sure to be cherished.
Although there are a huge number of silver gifts available, a personalised photo frame is our recommendation - opt for a heartfelt engraving and complement with a treasured photograph.
Personalised Prayer Mat
A personalised prayer mat can be a thoughtful present to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Prayer mats are available in many styles and colours with options to add names, initials and messages. A personalised prayer mat will stand out wherever it's used.
If they already have a nice prayer mat, you could opt for a special prayerbook or Quran instead.
Give to Charity
A huge part of Ramadan is charitable gift giving to those less fortunate in the form of Zakat al-Fitr. Why not continue this and celebrate Eid al-Fitr by giving a present to someone in need? This can be done through making a contribution to a charity, donating food or giving a special gift. After all, being charitable not only helps other people, but it can also feel great!
This year's Eid al-Fitr is on the evening of the 4th of June until the evening on the 5th of June, so make sure you're prepared with the perfect gift for your loved ones!

]]>While a neat and orderly wardrobe that gifts every item its own space and hanger might sound like the stuff of fantasy, believe it or not, it is achievable - and today, we're going to show you how. We're offering 4 essential tips on how to declutter your wardrobe, creating a space that effectively organises your clothing into a stress-relieving, logical and comprehensible system that enables you to throw a flawless outfit together in seconds, every day of the week.
Ok, so let's get one thing straight - this isn't going to be an easy task, especially if (like most of us) you find it hard to throw away clothes you once loved. It's going to take time, it's going to take patience. As a result, ensure you psych yourself up appropriately for the somewhat mammoth task ahead of you.
Bring a speaker into the bedroom, create a playlist of your favourite feel-good tunes and turn up the volume. Not only will this help put you in a motivated mindset, but it will stop the decluttering process feeling like so much of a chore.
To get a better impression of how to declutter your wardrobe most effectively, you're going to need to assess the damage. You'd be surprised at the sheer quantity of clothing that can accumulate in your wardrobe over the years, so you need to realistically manage your expectations of how long this is all going to take.
Start of by pulling everything out of your wardrobe and onto the floor (if it isn't there already). This will help you gauge a better understanding of just how many clothes you own, as well as how much space there is available in your wardrobe.
You need to devise a strategic approach to work out how to declutter your clothes, establishing a logical and easy-to-follow system. Our recommendation is to split up your clothing into three initial piles - the 'keep it' pile, the 'throw it' pile and and the 'still not sure' pile.
As the names suggest, the 'thow it' pile is for those unwanted, outdated, 'what was I thinking' type items that no longer have a natural place in your wardrobe. Where possible, look to donate this pile to a charity or pass down to family and friends.
When it comes to the 'still not sure' pile, you're going to have to try these items on to help you reach a conclusive decision. Take an hour in front of the mirror, checking that the items both fit and match the style of the rest of your keep pile - it's best to trust your gut reaction here, relegating any items you're unsure about to the 'throw it' pile.
With the clothing that's made the cut now determined, it's time to come up with a fresh and organised approach to what lies within your wardrobe. Your primary focus here should be visibility. During this decluttering process, you're likely to have rediscovered some lost treasures that you forgot you'd ever bought - establishing a new wardrobe system that prioritises visibility should look to combat this effectively.
Secondly, try to divide your clothes by a logical organisational system - this can be by clothing type or by regularity of use. For example, separating less frequently used modest wear such as your occasion abayas and storing them high up in your wardrobe is a sensible storage approach that enables them to be easily identified. Likewise, storing your weekend modest clothing away from your 9-5 workwear means you can locate your daily outfits quickly and easily - giving you an extra five minutes in bed in the morning!
Decluttering your wardrobe is a great way of rediscovering the old pieces you once loved while simultaneously making space to breathe some new life into your wardrobe and freshen up your seasonal style. Let us know how you tackle decluttering your wardrobe over on Instagram by using @abayabuth!

It's no secret that here at AbayaButh we love embellishments. While certain occasions call for a sophisticated, simple abaya, there are times when intricate lace, detailed embroidery, pearls, special materials and ruffles can take your modest wear to the next level. In 2019, we expect that our love of embellishments will continue to blossom, offering lovers of modest fashion an even more diverse wardrobe to pick from.
Watching the Autumn/Winter 2018 catwalks, it was impossible not to notice the sheer abundance of capes gracing the stage. From Saint Laurent and Dior to Dolce & Gabbana, the biggest fashion houses in the world have all embraced this beautifully modest silhouette - and we envisage that in 2019 we'll see even more capes. We've designed a number of capes already, including the luxuriously soft Navy Velvet Cape and its counterpart in black - but keep an eye on future collections in 2019 for even more cape goodness.
Floral Applique Kimono in White
Flower powered fashion was strong in 2018, with designers across the world embracing botanicals like never before (at least not in recent decades). We love the natural appearance of flowers and plants on an outfit, and so we believe floral prints will remain a mainstay in modest clothing in the 12 months to come. Whether through delicately embroidered petals and leaves or subtle floral patterning, the use of botanicals will continue to grow in popularity in 2019.

The foundation of colours found in the natural world - forest green, coffee brown, reddish clay and tan - will form the basis of many modest outfits next year. In contrast to the bright colours favoured by many designers in 2018, a rich palette of organic colours will prove far more popular in 2019, particularly in the world of modest fashion. From abayas and capes to dresses and kimonos, we'll see this naturalistic trend used across a plethora of different modest styles.
Which trend do you think will emerge victorious in 2019? Do you have a favourite trend from this year that you'd love to see carried over? Let us know on Instagram using @abayabuth!
