Modest Fashion in 2019: Our Predictions

Modest Fashion in 2019: Our Predictions

2018 has been another whirlwind in the world of fashion, seeing new trends emerge and others fall to the wayside - and with 2019 just around the corner, we can't wait to see what the next 12 months hold for modest fashion in particular. Today, we're predicting how we see modest wear shaping up in the year to come - from fresh styles and prints to colours, we're covering it all.

Embellishments

Maroon Viscose Jersey Hijab with Pearls

It's no secret that here at AbayaButh we love embellishments. While certain occasions call for a sophisticated, simple abaya, there are times when intricate lace, detailed embroidery, pearls, special materials and ruffles can take your modest wear to the next level. In 2019, we expect that our love of embellishments will continue to blossom, offering lovers of modest fashion an even more diverse wardrobe to pick from.

Capes

Black Velvet Cape

Watching the Autumn/Winter 2018 catwalks, it was impossible not to notice the sheer abundance of capes gracing the stage. From Saint Laurent and Dior to Dolce & Gabbana, the biggest fashion houses in the world have all embraced this beautifully modest silhouette - and we envisage that in 2019 we'll see even more capes. We've designed a number of capes already, including the luxuriously soft Navy Velvet Cape and its counterpart in black - but keep an eye on future collections in 2019 for even more cape goodness.

Floral details

Floral Applique Kimono in White

Flower powered fashion was strong in 2018, with designers across the world embracing botanicals like never before (at least not in recent decades). We love the natural appearance of flowers and plants on an outfit, and so we believe floral prints will remain a mainstay in modest clothing in the 12 months to come. Whether through delicately embroidered petals and leaves or subtle floral patterning, the use of botanicals will continue to grow in popularity in 2019.

The foundation of colours found in the natural world - forest green, coffee brown, reddish clay and tan - will form the basis of many modest outfits next year. In contrast to the bright colours favoured by many designers in 2018, a rich palette of organic colours will prove far more popular in 2019, particularly in the world of modest fashion. From abayas and capes to dresses and kimonos, we'll see this naturalistic trend used across a plethora of different modest styles.
